Retrofitting and Adapting Lifting Equipment for Evolving Production Needs
Svero
frequently takes part in projects where existing lifting equipment needs to be
modified or rebuilt to meet new production requirements.
“Investing
in brand-new lifting equipment isn’t always necessary to improve, for example,
production flow,” says Nicklas Almlöw, Technical Sales Representative at Svero.
“When these types of projects come up, we start by visiting the customer to
assess and document the current equipment. My job is then to evaluate what can
be reused and, based on that, develop proposals and technical drawings for the
required modifications and rebuilds.”
Here we present an example where components such as crane runways and cranes were given a new lease on life!
From
Freestanding to Ceiling-Suspended System
In this particular case, a freestanding system needed to be converted into a ceiling-suspended one due to space constraints—while also increasing the system’s lifting capacity from 1.0 ton to 1.6 tons. Following a structural assessment of the facility, calculations were made for the suspension beams between the roof trusses to ensure the rebuild was feasible and to determine the appropriate spacing between beams.
This system included several customized solutions and accessories that could now be reused, resulting in substantial cost savings—even though the project required extensive preparation and significant work effort.
